“When Lemon and Lime were brought to Geauga Mama Dogs and Pups, they were barely recognizable as the playful, healthy puppies they should have been. Their previous owner didn’t want them and made that clear by abandoning them, leaving them outside to fend for themselves. At only eight weeks old, they had been surviving on scraps—Doritos, fast food leftovers, which did nothing to nourish their growing bodies. Both puppies were malnourished, and to make things worse, they were FULL of parasites.
Lemon’s tiny body was weakened by the burden of parasites, and he struggled to walk properly, limping as he tried to keep up with his sister. Lime was terrified of everything and everyone, sticking close to her brother as if that was the only way she knew how to survive. They had been through so much already, and the fear in their eyes was heartbreaking.
But everything changed when they arrived at #GMDAP. As their foster parent, I saw firsthand how they slowly transformed. They received proper vet care, including treatment to rid their tiny bodies of parasites. For the first time, they were given nutritious, balanced meals that helped them regain their strength. Lemon’s limp improved as his health was restored, and Lime, once so fearful, started to show her sweet and playful side.
Watching Lemon and Lime learn how to trust again, seeing their tails wag as they played together—it was a reminder of why fostering is so important. These puppies, once discarded and unwanted, are now thriving because they were given a second chance.”
