Geauga Mama Dogs and Pups is comprised of an amazing group of volunteers who go above and beyond to help puppies and mama dogs. We all work together and support each other as we care for mama dogs and puppies that rely on us for our help because they cannot care for themselves.
We have two types of volunteers, fosters and drivers. Fosters open their homes to two to three puppies, about 6 to 7 weeks old, for love and care for about two weeks, or until ready for adoption. We also have fosters who care for pregnant dogs. These fosters help mama dogs birth their puppies and then care for the mama and her puppies until the puppies are about 7 weeks. At 7 weeks the puppies are split up in to pairs among fosters and at about 9 weeks they are ready for adoption.
Every week our volunteer drivers provide transportation for our animals to and from their rescue sites, our home base and our partner APLs. Some even help transport dogs and puppies to vet appointments or from one foster to another. This a great way to help puppies on their way to their best lives if you are not able to foster!
We are always in need of people who are willing to help! If you are interested in becoming part of GMDAP, please go to our How to Become a Volunteer page. Thank you!!
